Software Engineer - Solar Automation

As an automation engineer with the Global solar engineering's Tools, Standards and Technology team, you will be responsible for capturing technical requirements and process improvements to support value engineering through advanced automation.  You will work very closely with the project design and modelling team to develop cloud based tools. This will focus on optimizing layout and yield design as well as perform data engineering on operations data for RWE’s project pipeline globally. You will take an active role in developing innovative tools and apps for continuously improving how we work.

Essential functions:

• Automation of RWE solar engineering processes  
• Strong passion for working in the renewable energy industry
• Work closely with North America solar engineering and finance teams
• Regular interfacing with European engineering and finance teams
• Develop, evaluate and enhance existing Python tools developed in house
• Process owner for capturing technical application requirements and support value engineering through automation

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience providing quantitative analysis, software development and automation preferably in solar/storage business
• Bachelor’s in engineering at minimum
• Knowledge of solar energy assessment and operations performance analytics
• Understanding of PV modelling concepts using tools like PVCase and PVsyst is a plus

Tools :

• Knowledge in Plant Predict/Terabase and PVLib
• Expereince in Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Plotly and Requests libraries
• Knowledge of cloud platforms. 
• Experience with Elastic Search
