The main function of the Senior Manager, Sales & Renewable Energy Programs is to be responsible for the origination, screening, and closing of renewable energy generation opportunities (mostly solar and battery energy storage) in the commercial and industrial sector. This position will require working with various teams across the RWE DCE organization (business development, proposal generation, and project development and engineering) to achieve annual sales and revenue goals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, screen and capture new renewable generation solar and battery storage opportunities through various contracting structures, including but not limited to Power Purchase Agreements
  • Conduct market planning and analysis to uncover solar and battery storage opportunities, primarily in but not limited to the commercial and industrial sector
  • Negotiate and close solar and battery storage deals with a variety of commercial, industrial and government (local, state and federal) off-takers and customers
  • Create and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities in order to achieve assigned sales goals and revenue objectives
  • Participate in and help lead the proposal development process and other team sales presentations/customer engagementsParticipate in the Go/No Go process to screen and qualify distributed generation projects
  • Travel to customer locations to conduct sales presentations, relationship building and negotiations
  • Attend and participate in key regional and national trade shows and associations to identify solar and BESS sales opportunities

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or ten years of applicable experience in the Distributed Generation industry required in place of a Bachelors Degree
  • Certifications in sales and/or program management are preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales and business development , preferably in the renewable energy sector
  • Successful track record of originating and closing deals, specifically Solar and Battery Storage (BESS) project
  • Experience in originating, pursuing and contracting with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual Power Purchase Agreements, community solar (CS), leasing arrangements and/or similar distributed generation contract structure
  • Experience working with and managing channel partners and consultants to originate renewable opportunitie
  • Experience in negotiating and closing solar and battery storage deals with C&I and municipal off-takers /customers
  • Familiarity and experience with the solar and BESS development life cycle activities
  • Thorough understanding of renewable energy incentives, funding programs and policy (Federal, State and utility level) to help identify good opportunities and using them all to advance the customer sales processStrong understanding of State Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) programs
  • Familiarity and experience with financial analysis in support of PPAs, CS and similar contract structures is preferred
  • Familiarity with Solar and BESS materiel costing
  • Experience with Helioscope, Energy Tool Base and/or similar modeling production software is a plus
  • Familiarity and experience with microgrids and electric vehicle infrastructure is a plus
  • Able to analyze customer electric utility bills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Self–starter, able to work independently and in a team environment

 

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York is $157,200 - $235,800 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
