Project Controls Analyst

The  Project Controls Analyst shall report to the VP Projeof ct Controls (or Manager Project Controls) and shall be responsible for managing the project management control system for 5-8 concurrent projects within preconstruction and construction project management.  The Project Controls Analyst shall prepare, analyze, verify, and report information related to project control areas (such as cost, estimating, planning, schedule, and/or resource management) and measure the effect of such information on the overall performance of RWE’s wind, solar, and storage projects. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the Preconstruction and Execution Project Managers and other functional groups to ensure project control needs are met in an effective and efficient manner
  • Coordinate closely with the Execution project manager and Controller to prepare accurate, realistic, and timely project control reports including schedule, cost, and budget performance to ensure effective construction management of a project 
  • Coordinate budget management activities such as forecasting, accruals, and weekly financial snapshots
  • Provide detailed and timely analyses of project performance and variances (KPIs); review/evaluate accuracy and applicability of invoices and change orders submitted by contractors, make appropriate recommendations, and prepare reports
  • Assist Structured Finance with Tax Equity deliverables
  • Manage the Purchase Requisition (PR) process in SAP for all project-related orders
  • Maintain project and or other project-related dashboards or trackers with accurate data, consistent formulas, formatting, links, and tracking requirements
  • Maintain Salesforce project data and SharePoint document management
  • Key Deliverables:
    • Templates related to Preconstruction, Execution, Procurement, or others as required
    • Weekly meeting minutes, including action items
    • Weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly KPI reports
    • Schedule and cost variances
    • Development Plan or other trackers (including Permit Matrix, Risk Matrix, schedule milestones, contracts, lien waivers, etc.)
    • Turnover to Execution and Turnover to Operations checklists and documentation
    • Document management (storage, naming convention)
    • Purchase Requisitions (PRs) in SAP
    • Other analyses/KPIs as requested
       

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, project management, or similar field
  • MBA a plus but not a requirement
  • PMP certification a plus but not a requirement
  • Equivalent industry certifications and experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in planning, scheduling, estimating, resource management, or cost controls applicable to engineering and/or construction of power generation facilities, transmission, or electrical substations.  Experience may be satisfied with a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with detailed management of budgets, with the ability to forecast spend, provide accurals, understand retainage, and analyze performance on current spend vs budget
  • Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills:  writing, speaking, reporting analyses in easy-to-read/understand format
  • Proficient/advanced use of Excel, including pivot tables, advanced financial formulas, troubleshooting, linking files, graphs, etc
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Teams
  • Advanced understanding of running analytics for KPIs to drive decision-making on cost controls, approvals of POs, and negotiation
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Collaboration and sharing of information in a transparent, open manner with multiple departments
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong business acumen and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • Flexibility and ability to make necessary adjustments to plans in response to changing conditions (energy markets, project or team schedules, supply chain, critical deadlines)
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations 
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $85,000 - $127,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
