This PV Project Engineer shall contribute to achieving the organization’s growth targets through successful project development engineering. He/She shall ensure a project’s success by meeting commercial terms and internal project economics through efficient and optimized PV Designs.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create detailed PV layouts for utility-scale project sites across North America and Latin America  
  • Incorporate reasonable design constraints and equipment specifications as per internal standards to provide PV designs from conceptual phase to 30% design phase
  • Provide support on the constructability of future development sites and buildable areas
  • Optimize the PV design with in-house tools to model LCOE, MET data, soiling, and other key inputs
  • Utilize performance modeling software (PVSyst, etc.) to prepare project energy yield assessments
  • Provide technical review feedback on PPA, IA, RFPs, and other major project agreements.  
  • Work with various internal RWE development groups (Transmission, Development, Project Finance, etc.) to drive the development process and assess optimization efforts.  
  • Visit sites to assess buildable areas and equipment locations, and identify red flags for buildable areas, design, and construction
  • Develop new initiatives for the PV Design and Optimization team, to expand the team’s capabilities and promote growth within the company
  • Intermittent travel is required, approximately once every 3 months, for industry conferences, team workshops, site visits, and other trips as needed. The frequency of travel can vary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Masters/PhD or PE license preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant PV modeling experience; 5-8 years of industry experience
  • Proficiency in PVsyst and AutoCAD programs is required. Proficiency in Plant Predict and PVCase would be a plus
  • Knowledge of NEC, applicable codes, and industry best practices
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to simultaneously manage multiple projects and engineering team deliverables
  • Technical knowledge of inverters/racking is required
  • Experience with batteries is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of project economics to provide PV design with best NPV and IRR 
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently or as an exceptional team player
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York City is $106K - $159K. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
