Market Operations Analyst

The Market Operations team ensures that the RWE renewable generation fleet is prepared and operating to business needs within each market. The team provides support and expertise in market design and market requirements for the RWE Renewables Operation Center (ROC) and other internal teams. The RWE renewable generation fleet is expected to see tremendous growth in the coming years and a talented, innovative, and dedicated Market Operations Analyst is needed to make this expansion possible! This position is open to both a Market Operations Analyst and Senior Market Operations Analyst depending on the background and experience of the candidate identified.

 

Your Future Plans:

 

  • Provides support for new renewable generation projects and ensures they meet all market requirements and deadlines
  • Performs periodic data analysis and reporting as required by ISOs, NERC, FERC, DOE, and others
  • Performs data analysis and reporting on the operation and performance of the existing renewable generation fleet for internal stakeholders
  • Plans and coordinates testing of existing renewable generation sites to meet compliance requirements (e.g. reactive, PFR, AVR, ramp rate performance, etc.)
  • Works with Market Operations and other internal teams to develop strategies and tools to improve the operation and competitiveness of the renewable generation fleet
  • Maintains familiarity with market rules and internal team procedures related to one or more markets, including but not limited to ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, CAISO, and AESO, to support above job duties

 

Your Powerful Skills:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or business from an accredited school
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience (in excess of the degree requirements) in power markets, power generation, grid operations, or a related field. A Master’s degree may be counted for one year of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate within a team
  • Experience performing data analysis and an ability to identify trends and distill key insights from complex information
  • Must be willing to work occasionally over nights/weekends/holidays as required by project deadlines
  • Prior knowledge of system and/or market operations in the CAISO market strongly preferred
    • Alternatively, knowledge of one or more of the following: ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, AESO also a plus
  • Prior knowledge of NERC regulatory requirements applicable to GOPs
  • Experience with and of the following: Seeq, Tableau, OSI PI, software tool development and/or process automation
