RWE Clean Energy is looking for an IT / OT Program Manager to lead technology initiatives that support the development, operation, and optimization of solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage. This role operates in a structured enterprise environment collaborating with 3rd party vendors, business partners, peers - while embracing an agile, solution-oriented mindset.
Reporting to senior leadership, the IT / OT Program Manager will own day-to-day delivery of project scopes, timelines, and budgets, coordinating with engineering, operations, finance, and external vendors to drive successful outcomes using either a waterfall for large projects, or Agile for digital products. The role will translate business and asset management requirements into clear technical workstreams, leveraging modern project management practices and tools to manage risks, streamline communication, and support continuous improvement in how solar, wind, and storage projects are developed, constructed and operated.
The applicant must have a proven track record in delivering large scale strategic tech projects in the renewable energy sector, demonstrate the ability to perform tasks independently and/or with minimum guidance, and to take an active leadership role to ensure activities are completed on-time and on-budget.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project charters, defining scope, deliverables, milestones, timelines, and success criteria in alignment with IT/OT strategic priorities
- Lead project planning and scheduling efforts (traditional waterfall, scrum, etc.), ensuring clear work breakdown structures and resource assignments across teams
- Manage cross-functional project teams, coordinating tasks across IT, OT, business units, and third-party vendors to achieve objectives
- Proactively track and monitor project performance against scope, schedule, and budget, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures
- Facilitate risk and issue management processes by developing mitigation plans, maintaining risk registers, and escalating critical challenges
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and implement engagement strategies to ensure effective communication, buy-in, and alignment throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and deliver high-quality project reports, dashboards, and executive presentations to communicate progress, risks, and dependencies
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements, delivery quality, and service-level performance metrics
- Oversee financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ensuring adherence to cost control measures
- Leverage Agile, hybrid, or waterfall delivery approaches as appropriate, tailoring methodologies to meet project and stakeholder needs
- Conduct project closure activities including lessons-learned sessions, benefit realization assessments, and documentation of best practices for future initiatives
- Ensure alignment with enterprise portfolio governance, compliance requirements, and architecture standards throughout project execution
- Serve as a mentor to junior project managers and team members, providing guidance on PMO processes, tools, and delivery techniques
- Interface with demand and portfolio management process to ensure successful handoff between project selection and initialization
- Conduct and document retrospectives and project reviews to ensure continuous improvement
- Act as a subject matter expert for IT/OT strategic planning frameworks and continuously refine methodologies to increase efficiency and impact
- Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering analytical and strategic skills development
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field of study
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as an IT strategy associate or IT strategy manager or similar roles
- Ideally 10 years of experience in IT and / or technology in growing responsibility and impact
- PMP and Agile certification(s) are a strong preference
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer and service provider relationships
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Project, SharePoint, Teams)
- Emerging skills using AI to automate and accelerate workflows (e.g., ChatGPT, NotebookLM, etc.)
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Ability to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines
- Ability to learn new technologies as required for the job using documentation and other available sources
- Ability to manage complex projects including but not limited to prioritization of critical path, escalation of risks and issues, management of stakeholders, and problem-solving with workstream
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines.

- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
- Must be able to work with remote teams, both within the US and globally
- Must also be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
