The Grid Testing team offers NERC Model Verification testing to provide RWE Compliance with a convenient and cost-effective solution for implementing the NERC standards. In this role, the Grid Power System Engineer will work cross functionally to support plant managers, grid regulators, transmission system operators, and RWE teams. Test equipment and validate compliance with interconnection requirement and validate generator models used for grid compliance, specifically MOD-25, MOD-26, and MOD-27.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute tests at RWE renewable plants to assist in meeting evolving regulatory standards for steady-state performance, dynamic performance, and modeling
  • Communicate effectively to support testing and/or compliance needs, and resolve issues promptly
  • Support RWE project(s) with power systems engineering expertise, including design and equipment specification studies, and commissioning support
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and improvement of existing tools used by the team

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electrical Power Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Power Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' providing power system testing experience required
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products
  • Data reporting using PI data historian
  • Knowledge of NERC MOD-25, 26, & 27
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise
  • Demonstrated knowledge in electrical or electric power engineering, conventional and renewable power plant design / operation
  • Demonstrated capability to complete projects on-time and on-budget
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements to support Market Operations & Compliance O&P teams

 

Working Environment:

  • Office locations are in Austin (TX), Chicago (IL), or Valhalla (NY)
  • Irregular hours may be required due to plant availability and ISO approved testing window.  This may include nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Travel will be limited

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York is $87,800 - $131,700 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
