The Flexible Generation & Project Development role is responsible for originating, developing, and delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects across natural gas, renewables, and hybrid solutions. This role supports the growth of RWE Americas’ integrated energy platform by advancing projects from early-stage development through financial investment decision while aligning with market demand and strategic objectives.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead or support origination and development of large-scale energy infrastructure projects including natural gas, renewables, and hybrid solutions
- Drive projects from early-stage development through financial investment decision (FID)
- Shape market entry strategies, site selection, and partnership opportunities
- Navigate permitting, interconnection, land acquisition, and regulatory processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, commercial, legal, finance, and executive leadership teams
- Engage with utilities, regulators, landowners, and external stakeholders
- Support development of integrated Energy Campus solutions for large-load customers such as data centers
- Contribute to portfolio strategy, market intelligence, and investment decisions
Job Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 7 years of experience in energy or infrastructure development
- Experience in project development across natural gas, renewables, or conventional generation preferred
- Experience with data center or large-load infrastructure development a plus
- Experience with interconnection, permitting, regulatory strategy, or commercial structuring
- Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, grid infrastructure, and regulatory environments
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects
- Strategic mindset with ability to translate market dynamics into development opportunities
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging utilities, regulators, and partners
- Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and executive teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachableIs detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois or Massachusetts is $120,000 - $190,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
