As the Director of Data Use and Privacy for RWE Clean Energy, LLC, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data privacy strategies, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with relevant data privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices for operation in the US, Canada, Mexico and Chile. You will play a critical role in defining the proper collection, storage and use of data; safeguarding the organization's data assets; and ensuring the privacy and security of personal information.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data privacy strategy aligned with applicable US and international regulations and laws, such as CCPA and GDPR., including staying updated on changes in legislation and emerging best practices, assessing potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate data privacy risks and ensure data privacy. Assist and participate in multidisciplinary projects as well as close cooperation with various Group functions across the borders of your country
  • Establish and maintain appropriate records of processing activities, data privacy policies, and consent mechanisms. Develop, implement, and maintain guidelines that comply with applicable data protection laws and reflect best practices for the appropriate collection, storage and use of data gathered by the company. Prepare required reports for Company and headquarters management
  • Review and update privacy policies and notices to align with changes in laws and regulations and evolving business needs
  • Participate as a member of the Company’s data breach response and management program, including incident response plans, communication protocols, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including participation with investigations of actual or suspected data breaches, coordinating with Cybersecurity, IT, Legal, and other relevant departments to assess impact, contain breaches, and implement necessary remedial measures. Coordinate with Cybersecurity, IT Legal and other relevant departments to ensure compliance with breach notification requirements and timely reporting to regulatory authorities and affected individuals, as applicable.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training programs to employees, contractors, and other relevant parties to raise awareness of data privacy principles, regulations, and organizational policies, as well as managing data privacy audits in your area of responsibility.
  • Foster a privacy-conscious culture by promoting best practices and providing ongoing guidance on data privacy matters
  • Assess and manage data privacy risks associated with third-party vendors and service providers, including evaluation of vendor contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with data privacy requirements and contractual safeguards, including, collaboration with procurement and legal teams to incorporate necessary data privacy provisions into vendor contracts
  • Reports to the Vice President – Ethics, Integrity & Compliance, you will develop and execute a comprehensive data privacy strategy aligned with applicable US and international regulations and laws, such as CCPA and GDPR, including staying updated on changes in legislation and emerging best practices, assessing potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate data privacy risks and ensure data privacy. Assist and participate in multidisciplinary projects as well as close cooperation with various Group functions across the borders of your country

 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree required, and/or post-graduate degree in a relevant field such as law, information security, or privacy preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or related fields, with a strong understanding of US data privacy laws and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of international data protection frameworks, such as GDPR, and their impact on organizations operating in the United States
  • Proven experience developing and implementing data privacy strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Strong understanding of data privacy principles, industry best practices, and emerging trends
  • Familiarity with data breach response and incident management processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and train employees at all levels
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) are preferred

 

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $146,300k - $219,400. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
