The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the PV and Battery Field Construction activities including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural . This position plays a key role in the department through managing the field work of subcontractors to ensure quality, schedule and safety objectives are achieved. Specific key area of focus include monitoring job safety, conducting job safety meetings, supervising subcontractor and vendors, maintaining project schedules and interfacing directly with the customer. The successful candidate will have a strong site presence and ensure company objectives are achieved.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate and manage all jobsites construction related activities providing field related support to the project manager, including but not limited to managing field-related project planning, scheduling and quality control
- Ensure all site operations are completed safe and in compliance with OSHA or other applicable standards
- Develop subcontractor scopes of work with Project Manager
- Meet or exceed customer’s performance expectations in-line with contract obligations
- Monitor and manage jobsites compliance with the corporate safety plan, design drawings and contract agreements
- Assist in the pre-qualification and descoping of contractors, subcontractors and equipment vendors
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams in conducting design optimization, value engineering and constructability reviews of projects
- Perform cost estimating and purchasing functions
- Complete daily or weekly field reports and record with project documentation
- Maintain working knowledge of codes, new technology and internal company design standards/requirements
- Oversee various testing and quality assurance checks by Engineering staff to verify the quality of completed projects
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Undergraduate (BS) Degree in Engineering or Construction related preferred
- Drivers license
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Renewable energy projects in both PV and Energy Storage
- Previous budget/schedule/performance/quality responsibilities
- Sepcific experience with building energy systems including electrical, Civil, PV and Energy storage systems
- Experience in the overall integration of Design engineering, construction, start-up, close-out, turnover and subesequnet O&M of a variety of Construction projects
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact and work effectively across internal or external organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet tight deadlines in both group or independent work
- Ability to push/pull/lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work safely in extreme field environments (hot sun, cold, etc.) where necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as required to support the projects development and construction
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- This position is a primarily field based with some time spent in RWECE offices
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
- Expected Travel is 90%
