Compliance Manager, NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection

Your Future Plans:


  • Strong understanding of NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Reliability Standards and Requirements.
  • Continued development and implementation of the NERC CIP compliance monitoring program and training program. Ensure that all elements of the CIP Compliance Program are completed on schedule. Develop, implement and track internal controls to assure ongoing compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Recognize, identify, and escalate CIP compliance or process related risks to Compliance Director. Evaluate and provide recommendations for risk mitigation or enhancements to policies, controls, processes and/or procedures.
  • Track and monitor new OT system implementation efforts to assure internal controls are followed and compliance is maintained.
  • Manage team of analysts to achieve compliance assurance for new generation assets under construction.
  • Lead efforts to provide require evidence and narratives for internal or external regulatory CIP audits and lead the mitigation and reporting of internal and external audit findings.
  • Assist Subject Matter Experts with interpreting requirements, determining compliance to the requirement, evaluating evidence, and building controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate self-audits and provide annual training to applicable departments within the company.
  • Remain current on emerging NERC CIP requirements and emerging cyber security risks.
  • Coordinate self-audits and provide annual training to applicable departments within the company.
  • Active participation in all electric sector critical infrastructure committees (such as ERCOT Critical Infrastructure Working Group (CIPWG) and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Committee (CIPC) and active monitoring of information sharing resources (such as Electricity sector Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ES-ISAC), Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT), and others).
  • Other duties as assigned. 



Your Powerfull Skills;


At least five years of experience in technical or regulatory environment applicable to cyber security in power generation or transmission systems.  At least two years of experience at a manager level serving as NERC CIP Compliance Manager or similar role preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in a managerial or lead role.  In depth knowledge of the NERC CIP standards is desired.  Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory process and requirements, to ensure compliant operation.  Strong project and/or program management skills.  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.  Information Technology or similar degree is preferred.  CISSP or similar industry certification is preferred.  Ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Government security clearance is a must.
