The Associate, SCADA Automation Engineer will be key in the design, maintenance and improvements of our monarch generation management system. You will be implementing project-specific requirements, services and functionalities required by the plants, determine the most suitable SCADA concept for interconnection, and ensure the control system meets the requirements of our operational teams.

 

The SCADA Operations team within RWE Clean Energy ensures the daily operations of our plant systems for battery energy storage, solar and wind projects of RWE Clean Energy and its customers are operating with the highest quality for the entire life cycle - from the development phase to operation. This position executes on the design, support and integration of our projects in our GMS system within RWE Clean Energy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Supports commissioning and operations of power generation assets and substations
  • Supports and maintains substation RTU configurations (SEL RTAC)
  • Supports and maintains power plant control systems and substation automation
  • Configures various SCADA system elements
  • Provides high levels of customer support to the 24x7 dispatch desk
  • Provides off-hour support for emergencies and major system events affecting capability to run generation assets
  • Demonstrates capability to design industrial control networks
  • Provides off-hour support (rotational) for emergencies and major system events affecting capability to run generation assets

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics or related concentration
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification preferred

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in control field operations
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience applicable to electric power generation, generation management, and automatic generation control
  • Experience with OPC data transfer from site to other internal systems
  • Experience with ICCP data transfer, SFTP data transfer, and XML data transfer
  • Experience with SCADA HMIs
  • Experience with SQL databases and reporting systems
  • Experience with regulation and compliance requirements and processes
  • Experience with PLC and logic control of utility systems
  • Experience with protection, metering, and substation equipment
  • Experience with basic OT systems such as remote desktop, VPN, windows server
  • Experience with Battery Controls systems preferred
  • Experience with Power Plant Controller preferred

  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations.  The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $76,000 - $114,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
