Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Operations Training the Safety Training Specialist will help design and conduct various safety trainings like GWO Basic Safety Training, Confined Space Rescue, Competent Person, etc. amongst other safety trainings, to align employee performance with the goals of organization. The training specialist will also determine training objectives and write training programs, including outlines, handouts, courses, exams as well as design practical exercises. Training specialist will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Candidates will need a wide degree of creativity and latitude and will be required to perform other related duties as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver at-height training to RWE technicians on rescue response and first aid techniques in Multi-brand Wind Turbines as well as solar farms
  • Independently manage classroom presentations and lead real-world training scenarios for students to ensure safe and effective rescue response
  • Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) & eLearning on various safety topics like GWO Basic Safety Training including Working at Heights, First-Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Confined Space Rescue, Competent Person, etc.
  • Upload & maintain training material on training LMS and maintain accurate records & generate reports
  • Continuously evaluate and update training materials
  • Responsible for site visits to perform training, conduct practical exercises, administer exams, evaluate competencies, etc.
  • Support development of other instructors through peer evaluation and feedback
  • Ensure all participants meet learning objectives in Course & Module Outlines during course delivery
  • Continuously develop new competencies and rescue techniques on multi-brand turbines to support rescue response in all turbines serviced by RWE technicians
  • Participate in training audits as and when required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in related field of either education/learning/training or wind turbine technology
  • Current GWO trainer certification highly desired
  • OSHA 500/501 trainer course for construction/general industry preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in working at height in wind industry or similar industry
  • Minimum 2 years of experience delivering formal training programs for adult learners in a safety or technical discipline
  • Good working knowledge of conducting PPE inspections, training administration tools and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines as well as pivot as priorities shift
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Initiative – Must be able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information. Identify areas of opportunity for training and develop & improve internal training initiatives
  • Problem solving – Good ability to plan, organize and deliver training in dynamic field environments to ensure course material is covered and objectives are met
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Interpersonal Skills – Proven record of dealing and interacting with both management and technical teams; skilled in human relations, conflict resolution and facilitation in a team environment; proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds during a classroom and/or hands-on presentation, including assessing and checking for understanding during practical rescue exercises
  • Technical/Functional Knowledge –High level knowledge of rescue equipment, first aid concepts and safe work methods for work on wind turbines
  • Must demonstrate a detail and deadline-oriented mindset while managing multiple and changing priorities
  • Flexibility – Able to make the necessary adjustments to the plans to respond to changing conditions, must be able to travel at short notice
  • Resource Management – Make effective use of available resources to achieve operating goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.)
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
  • Field environment may include hazardous conditions such as working at height up to 300’, working in confined spaces, exposure to bloodborne pathogens, exposure to energized electrical and rotating equipment, and working in extreme hot and cold conditions
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty medical examination upon hiring and every 2 years thereafter and maintain a body weight of 270 lbs. or less. The work also requires flexibility and full range of movement in confined spaces
  • This work requires providing working at heights & rescue training; must maintain competent fall protection & rescue trainer or equivalent certifications
  • The work requires providing first aid/CPR; must maintain First Aid/CPR/AED trainer certification
