Your opportunity

This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to launch a career in Geotechnical Engineering.  You’ll join our global, expert Site Characterisation and Ground Modelling team to gain both breadth and depth of experience, whilst completing an MSc Apprenticeship in partnership with the University of Birmingham.  You’ll be part of key projects and value-adding work from day one,  mentored by one of our experienced Chartered Engineers.

As you develop your knowledge and expertise, you will:

  • Have the opportunity to support all aspects of offshore windfarm development, including HDDs, cables and foundations
  • You have an opportunity to learn how to interpret the geotechnical site investigation data
  • You have opportunity to work with big data, database management and application of machine learning in Geotechnical engineering.
  • Undertake, develop and continually improve offshore geotechnical data acquisition, developing expertise in geotechnical software
  • Ensure our surveys deliver high levels of quality data to optimise engineering solutions
  • Learn how to effectively interpret geotechnical data, producing reports and communicating key findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare specifications and technical tenders
  • Develop project geo risk registers
  • Hone your project management skills
  • Develop the ability  to communicate and work across different business cultures, in a truly international sector

About you

  • By September 2024 you will have completed your degree in civil engineering, geology, geoscience or a closely related subject (where relevant subject areas to engineering geology or geotechnical engineering have been studied), at a 2.1 or above
  • You have a good programming skills in python and MATLAB
  • You can clearly demonstrate an ability to balance work and academic study over a 3 year period, taking a highly organised and focused approach to your development journey
  • With a high degree of self-reliance, you’ll demonstrate curiosity and an openness towards change and continuous improvement
  • Highly numerate, detail oriented and analytical,  you’ll be comfortable working with large data sets and excited about getting hands on with new software packages
  • Importantly, you have a clear motivation and desire to launch your career in geotechnical engineering, alongside an enthusiasm for renewable energy
  • You have very good spoken and written business English skills (other European languages are a bonus)
  • You’re comfortable with the prospect of international travel
