international legal team you will focus on real estate transations relating to the onshore projects in 
UK & Ireland.

RWE Renewables OPEA Legal Team provides global support to our onshore business (wind, solar, pv 
and storage). The team provides key legal support to projects over their entire lifetime from 
development and construction to operation and finally decommissioning. This role will focus on 
supporting the onshore business in one of our core markets - the United Kingdom, on legal matters 
relating to Real Estate Law. 

 

We are looking for a strongly motivated and self-confident legal counsel, capable of working 
alongside other members of the RWE Renewables OPEA Legal Team and engage with other support 
functions to deliver a holistic and streamlined service to the onshore business in the United Kingdom. 

 

Your role will focus on: 

  • Real Estate Law 
    •  advise the business on property transactions, including drawing and negotiation of licences, 
    • options, leases, and easements for renewables projects and other real estate maƩers
    •  support internal clients with drawing of NDAs and Heads of Terms providing high level advice 
    • on points of principle and advising the asset management team on ongoing issues 
    •  advise on landlord and tenant and agricultural matters - a working knowledge of the relevant 
    • Acts and possession issues 
    •  advise on site assembly and acquisition of land for development, providing advice on 
    • encumbrances affecting development proposals and the consenting process
    •  supporting the transactions team on corporate matters

 

  • General Legal support 
    • provide general legal support in a timely pragmatic manner 
    • support projects by appointing external law firms where appropriate and according to 
    • internal policies, to ensure best value for the project, monitoring fees, performance and 
    • scope of work in such appointments 
    • advise senior management about related legal risks, including claims and disputes 
    • manage organizational or coordination tasks including process optimization initiatives and 
    • standardization 
    • establish and nurture cross-functional and cross-cultural working relationships with legal and 
    • wider business 

 

Your powerful skills 
In addition to be successfully graduated from law school and qualified as solicitor in England & Wales
or in another common law country, you have gained at least 5 years or more of professional 
experience from working in a prominent law firm and/or company, preferably in the Energy Area 
and/or the Renewables Energy Sector. 
You have outstanding commercial, technical and strategic understanding as well as: 

  • thorough expertise in real estate law, in particular, in development and lease work 
  • command of English (capability of working in a further EU-language is beneficial but not 
  • essential) 
  • excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills and a solution-oriented and 
  • positive mindset 
  • confident negotiator with third parties, adopting a commercial pragmatic approach and able 
  • to instruct external counsel and manage them proficiently 
  • must be able to work under pressure and be client focused 
  • the ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and prioritize work in a 
  • dynamic environment 
  • good understanding of front-to-end processes and passion for continuous improvement 
  • being a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team , a willingness to 
  • take initiative and a high level of commitment and engagement, 
  • enjoying working in an international team and being open to some travel
